Push It!

I always claim to be a visual person. It does not take much to conjure up a vision in my mind, just a few words. As I get older, I am noticing that I also have a capacity for being somewhat auditory. I am not one of those people who can quote any movie at any given time (just a few classic 80's lines, read ALL of "Sixteen Candles" "Ginny, Mike, Sarah, Sam...-wait I digress).

Give me a song, and it is like I am transported back in time. I often can remember where I was, who I was with and possibly what I was wearing (notice the visual cues corresponding with the auditory stimuli). For example, tonight a SS "friend" mentioned the GREAT Nextel commercial with the guys totally getting their groove on to this "classic" 1988 hit by Salt 'n Pepa.

Now, this is a song that generally does not bring up fond memories. It is the song that was playing as I entered my Senior Prom. All was good. People were dancing. The "bridge" was decked out. It was just not what I really envisioned in my storybook image of the prom. Truly, I have very little recollection of this event. The HS sweetheart and I looked smashing (I do have pictures that document this FACT!). But I don't think we danced. There were many fun friends to visit with, but then again, we saw them all every day. I attribute most of my lackadaisicalness to the fact that I was celebrating "the biggest night of high school" (or so they say. THEY-I don't know about them) with a 100 degree + fever. Anywho, this song brings all of this BLAH back to mind each & every time I hear it. That is until now!

Watch it and see what I mean.

"Ahh! Push it." Can't you just see these guys gyrating in their office, no holds barred. I am in tears thinking about it. Thank you Nextel. Now can you find a way for me to fit into that blue silk strapless number from long ago. I might get a good dance in after all! "Push it REAL GOOD!"
